Creative Fall Learning in Spanish Class
Today in our Spanish classes, we brought seasonal themes directly into our language learning through hands-on pumpkin crafts. Combining art and language gives students an engaging way to practice new terms while having fun.
Elementary 3D Pumpkin Projects
For the elementary Spanish class, we made 3D pumpkins. The students picked four words from our autumn vocabulary and wrote those words down on strips of pumpkin cardstock. After writing their terms, they decorated their 3D pumpkins.
We spent time talking about the words they chose for their projects. Students shared words such as calabaza for pumpkin, ardilla for squirrel, and otoño for fall. We had so much fun doing pumpkin crafts as we covered our fall vocabulary together.
Exploring Emotions in Pre-K
In addition to our elementary project, our pre-K class worked on jack-o'-lantern crafts. The children created different emotions on the pumpkin faces in order to practice emotion vocabulary in Spanish. It was a wonderful way for our youngest learners to connect expressions with new Spanish words.
