About Mindful Leaders Academy
Who is MLA?
Mindful Leaders Academy of LWR offers classes for PreK and K-3 homeschool learners. As homeschooled students, learners are often siloed in their individual homes and therefore do not have the opportunity to practice the skills associated with being a part of a group. At MLA, we are focused on providing learners the opportunity to collaborate with peers and practice the social skills associated with group tasks. Learners also have frequent opportunities to present in front of their peers as another form of social practice.
What does MLA offer?
Our classes offer enrichment opportunities for learners in the areas of music, art, literature, STEM, social emotional learning, and physical fitness & nutrition. In each subject area, students are engaged in the curriculum with emphasis on student-led, collaborative, project-based tasks. They are invited to bring their own creativity and prior knowledge to further each learning opportunity.
When does MLA meet?
MLA meets two times per week. On Mondays, we meet on campus from 9am-3pm to collaborate on our weekly projects in the aforementioned subject areas. On Wednesdays, we meet at 9am at varied locations in our area to do extension activities from our Monday projects, community service projects stemming from our social emotional learning class, social events, and field trips to explore our community. All learning activities are intended to enrich each learners homeschool learning journey and engage them in activities to promote a love of learning.
